back to slu- cutouts, crayons, glue

i asked them
where are the pretty faces and
cement floor store places
where i can erase all
the coloring done outside of the lines

i knew how to take some of
it back,
when i drew lightly in pencil
in crayon
when i chanced to color my life
with colored wax wrapped in paper
but on paper
the random lines were drawn
and no eraser

the cut along the lines dolls
in the store behind the counter
would ask me to
sign in and to
sit and wait please, smile
and to be assured
someone will be
right with me

thats what i came for, yes?
to sign in, be documented
to wait, be patient
to be helped,
because thats what i needed, yes?

and next thing you know ive got a
new paper cut out with
new arms, a solid dress color
painted and legs too
and i walk out of the store
aware if my legs stick
its because of the glue
